The 10th Annual CO Safety Summit brought together volunteers, industry professionals, safety leaders, health care professionals, fire service members, EMTs, public officials, elected leaders, and community partners to advance carbon monoxide safety education, awareness, prevention, and collaboration across the Northeast.
The Northeast Carbon Monoxide Alliance was formed through a shared commitment to reduce carbon monoxide deaths and injuries through education, awareness, prevention, and collaboration. Over the past decade, the Alliance has grown into a regional effort that brings together people with different experiences and expertise, including survivors and families, fire service leaders, health care professionals, industry representatives, public officials, and dedicated community volunteers.
The 10th Annual CO Safety Summit was held in Concord, New Hampshire, bringing that broad cross section of the Northeast safety community together in one place. The event reflected the Alliance’s unique strength: volunteers and professionals from multiple states and disciplines working side by side to share lessons, support one another, and help communities take practical steps to prevent carbon monoxide tragedies.
WMUR attended the Summit and helped bring wider attention to the real human impact of carbon monoxide poisoning. Their coverage featured families, advocates, and safety officials sharing why awareness matters at home, while traveling, and during seasonal risks such as heating system use, generator operation, and warming vehicles in enclosed spaces.
The segment underscored a central message of the Summit: carbon monoxide is invisible, odorless, and can affect anyone. By sharing survivor stories, expert guidance, and practical prevention steps, the event helped reinforce the importance of working carbon monoxide alarms, proper generator placement, regular heating equipment inspection, and continued community education.
